The credit, which is at the very foundation of the banking activity, is a word that originates from the Latin “credere” - to believe, to trust. Without trust, there would be no bank deposits and the banks would grant no loans. Regaining trust is the main objectiv of reforms engaged by the National Bank of Moldova, the ultimate goal of our entire profession.
On this professional day, we note with satisfaction that the first signs of trust recovery are there. It is the result of all bank employees' efforts, the outcome of your day-to-day work. I want to express my highest appreciation for your dedication and professionalism and I remain convinced that we will continue down the path of reforms with the same responsibility and dynamism. The ongoing changes will determine not only the banking sector's competitiveness and performance, but also the prosperity of the country we live in.
For the last 27 years, the Moldovan banking sector has faced many tests, but the lessons learned and your commitment help us today to rebuild a sounder, transparent and trustworthy banking system, the one we want.
Sincerely,
Sergiu Cioclea
