The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), Anca Dragu, received the award “Distinguished Appreciation for an Exceptional Career. Inspirational Female Leadership Role Model” at the Invest Energy Gala held in Bucharest. The distinction recognises her substantial role in promoting economic and financial stability, as well as her ongoing commitment to sustainable development and regional cooperation.
In her speech, the Governor of the NBM highlighted the strategic importance of energy interconnection between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, as well as integration into the European ENTSO-E network, emphasising the impact of these processes on strengthening economic independence.
"For Moldova, diversifying and modernising the energy sector is not just an aspiration—it is a strategic necessity. Energy dependence translates directly into economic vulnerability and inflationary pressure. When energy prices fluctuate dramatically due to external shocks, the entire economy feels the impact. Families are forced to choose between heating and other necessities, and companies pass on increased costs to consumers."
Ms. Anca Dragu added that the central bank responded by carefully calibrating monetary policy, while also leveraging European financial support aimed at stabilising the energy market. She also mentioned the role of the NBM team, emphasising that the award is a collective recognition of the institution's efforts to maintain macroeconomic balance in a complex regional context: “This distinction is a signal of encouragement for all those who contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and building a more secure and predictable future.”
In conclusion, Ms. Anca Dragu congratulated the Invest Energy team on their 10 years of activity supporting sustainable energy development in the region.
