New term deposits attracted1 in September 2025 totalled MDL 4,546.3 million, increasing by 6.2% as compared to August 2025 (Infographic 1). Deposits attracted in domestic currency recorded a share of 74.9% and totalled MDL 3,404.3 million, increasing by 10.0% as compared to the previous month. Deposits attracted in foreign currency totalled MDL 1,142.0 million, being 3.8% lower than in the previous month.

The average nominal interest rate on domestic currency deposits increased by 0.20 percentage points (p.p.) as compared to the previous month, reaching the value of 5.12%. The average nominal interest rate on foreign currency deposits increased by 0.01 p.p. to 1.38%.
In terms of deposits’ maturity, the largest shares of total term deposits were held by deposits with maturities from 2 to 5 years (57.0%) and from 6 to 12 months (24.5%).
In September 2025, individuals’ deposits amounted to MDL 3,306.9 million, increasing by 0.1% as compared to the previous month (Infographic 2). Deposits with maturities from 2 to 5 years and from 6 to 12 months were the most preferred, representing 48.9% and 30.6% of individuals’ total deposits, respectively. Compared to September 2024, individuals’ deposits in domestic currency increased by 60.1%, while those in foreign currency – by 12.7%.

The average interest rate on deposits attracted in domestic currency from individuals remained at the level of 5.28%. The average interest rate on foreign currency deposits increased by 0.05 p.p. to 1.32%.
In September 2025, businesses’ new term deposits totalled MDL 1,236.1 million, increasing by 26.7% as compared to the previous month. Deposits in domestic currency amounted to MDL 1,094.1 million (+40.6%), while those in foreign currency – MDL 142.1 million (-28.1%). Compared to September 2024, businesses’ deposits in domestic currency increased by 3.3 times, while their deposits in foreign currency decreased by 32.4%.

The average interest rate on deposits attracted in domestic currency from businesses increased by 0.92 p.p. as compared to the previous month, reaching the value of 4.78%, while the average interest rate on their foreign currency deposits decreased by 0.02 p.p. to 1.84%.
