The National Bank of Moldova performs its functions in the area of international relations based on the Law no. 548‑XIII of July 21, 1995 on the National Bank of Moldova [1], other legal acts of the Republic of Moldova and in accordance with international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party.
Thus, the National Bank of Moldova:
- shall represent the Republic of Moldova in intergovernmental meetings, councils and organizations, on monetary policy issues, banking licensing and inspection matters, and other issues that are within its field of competence;
- may provide banking services to foreign governmental, financial and banking institutions and to international organizations in which the National Bank of Moldova or the Republic of Moldova participates;
- may participate in international organizations aimed at safeguarding financial and economic stability through international cooperation;
- as agency of the Republic of Moldova may, within its powers, undertake obligations and execute transactions arising from the participation of the Republic of Moldova in international organizations.
