Today, 29 September 2026, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Ms Anca Dragu, took part as a speaker in the event organised by the National Bank of Romania (NBR) to mark the presentation of the second volume of the Economic@BNR project, entitled “Financial Sustainability – From Deficits to Nominal Convergence”.
The event, opened by the NBR Governor, Mr Mugur Isărescu, and Deputy Governor Cosmin Marinescu, the initiator and coordinator of the Economic@BNR project, brought together representatives of public institutions, academia, the business community and social partners. Discussions focused on current economic vulnerabilities and development prospects.
In her remarks, the NBM Governor highlighted the importance of dialogue between central banks in understanding economic vulnerabilities and identifying common priorities. Ms Anca Dragu appreciated the Economic@BNR project as a platform for analysis and the exchange of experience, at a time when financial sustainability and convergence are becoming increasingly important areas of focus for central banks.
“Financial sustainability and advancing convergence require a careful understanding of economic vulnerabilities and well-founded decisions. Sharing experience helps us to better understand these challenges and identify common priorities. I appreciate the NBR’s initiative to create an open framework for this dialogue,” said Governor Anca Dragu.
The volume is the second study produced as part of the Economic@BNR project and brings together analyses by NBR specialists on the sustainability of public finances, public debt, external imbalances, the financial and banking sector, and nominal convergence.
The new volume continues the Economic@BNR series, launched in 2025 with the study “European Romania – Developments, Progress and Challenges”. It examines Romania’s economic path within the European Union, using more than 100 indicators to highlight the progress made over the past two decades and the challenges that remain, including deficits, public debt and the level of financial intermediation.
Both publications are also available in electronic format, in Romanian and English: Economic@BNR .
