The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) joins for the first time the European initiative "European Night of Museums", marking an important step in its commitment to promote culture and national heritage.
The event will take place on Saturday, 18 May 2024, and offers a rare opportunity for citizens to explore the exhibition hall of the NBM, highlighting the monetary evolution of the Republic of Moldova and its contribution to European cultural identity.
The Governor of the NBM, Anca Dragu, mentions that the "European Night of Museums" at the NBM is more than an exhibition tour, it is an interactive platform for learning and discussion about monetary history and cultural influences in monetary design.
"The NBM's participation in this event underlines the Bank's commitment as a community partner, a stable and responsible pillar in society. We want to contribute to financial and cultural education through access to the history of money and the role of the national bank. We encourage the public of all ages to connect with cultural values, to discover the heritage in the heart of Chisinau. ", says Anca Dragu in a video message.
Special exhibits include commemorative coin and banknote issues, themed art projects and documentaries exploring cultural and aesthetic influences in coin design, as well as a gold ingot. The event will be complemented by interactive presentations to enrich the general public's knowledge of the monetary art complexity.
Admission for visitors is free and the doors of the NBM will be open from 4 PM to 11 PM. Visits will be organised every hour during this time, without prior appointment. Access will be granted on presentation of an ID.
