The discussions also addressed the role of central banks in promoting national culture and identity.
The agenda of the discussions included cooperation in the field of coin issuance, especially with regard to jubilee and commemorative coins, aimed at promoting cultural and historical heritage. At the same time, the importance of joint projects, such as exhibitions, educational programmes, and cultural initiatives, was highlighted, with a view to bringing the public closer to monetary history and the role of currency as a symbol of both national and European identity
"The long-term partnership we have with the NBR in the monetary and numismatic field goes beyond the technical matters and contributes to promoting educational, cultural, and symbolic objectives. Through the constant exchange of best practices and the development of joint projects, we are capitalising on our numismatic heritage, strengthening its visibility, and connecting it to European trends and standards," emphasised Ms. Anca Dragu.
At the conclusion of the visit, the NBR delegation toured the museum of the National Bank of Moldova, where collections of jubilee and commemorative coins are exhibited, reflecting the history of monetary circulation in the Republic of Moldova, as well as prominent personalities, and national cultural traditions.
