The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Ms. Anca Dragu, held a meeting with the Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) office in the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Giuseppe Grimaldi.
Discussions focused on recent macroeconomic developments, strengthening economic resilience, and Moldova's development priorities. Initiatives aimed at increasing transparency, facilitating access to finance, developing market infrastructure, and accelerating modernisation and digitalisation processes, including in the context of Moldova's European integration, were highlighted.
An important topic of the meeting was the EBRD's support for projects included in Moldova's Growth Plan, which support investments in infrastructure, regional development, energy, digitalisation and economic competitiveness – areas with a direct impact on economic growth and citizens' quality of life.
"We have joint projects underway that directly contribute to increasing the resilience of the economy and improving access to finance for businesses and citizens. Cooperation with the EBRD supports the modernisation of market infrastructure and the harmonisation of the financial framework with European standards, including through the development of instruments and services tailored to a modern economy. This collaboration fosters transparency of the financial sector and advancement of the Republic of Moldova's European path," said Ms. Anca Dragu.
The EBRD is one of Moldova's main development partners, with more than 180 projects financed, worth over €2.6 billion, targeting infrastructure, energy, the business environment, and the financial sector.
Cooperation between the NBM and the EBRD includes projects aimed at modernising the financial market, enhancing transparency, and aligning with European standards.
