On the occasion of the Moldovan leu day marked on 29 November, the National Bank of Moldova puts into circulation seven commemorative and jubilee coins as means of payment and for numismatic purposes.
Four coins with face value of MDL 50 are minted in silver and belong to series “Personalities”. These are dedicated to the following events: the 100th anniversary since the birth of Glebus Sainciuc - Bessarabian plastic artist and portrait painter; the 85th anniversary since the birth of Serghei Lunchevici - violinist, conductor, composer and film actor; the 80th anniversary since the birth of Gheorghe Vrabie – plastic artist, author of the Moldovan leu design and the 85th anniversary since the birth of Mihai Volontir – National Artist, actor of the National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri” in Balti, Republic of Moldova.
The following two coins, minted in silver, also with the face value of MDL 50, completes the series “Famous women” and are dedicated to the centenary anniversaries as follows: the 100th anniversary since the birth of Zenaida Pally - Romanian mezzo-soprano of international notoriety and the 100th anniversary since the birth of Domnica Darienco - actress at “A. S. Pushkin” Drama Theatre, today “Mihai Eminescu” National Theatre of the Republic of Moldova.
The chain of new coins put into circulation ends with the series of coins "Others", which includes the commemorative coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, with the face value of MDL 100.
These coins have a circulation of 300 copies each.
The commemorative and jubilee coins are packed in transparent methacrylate capsules and special boxes, accompanied by certificates of authenticity in Romanian and English, signed by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.
