Commemorative coins collection, 2020 edition [1]
ÎStarting with November 27, 2020, the National Bank of Moldova puts into circulation eight jubilee and commemorative coins as means of payment and for numismatic purposes.
The "Personalities" series is completed with two commemorative coins dedicated to the centenary of Valentina Rusu Ciobanu - visual artist, one of the most representative and illustrious personalities of Bessarabian painting and the bicentennial of Alexandru Ioan Cuza`s birth - the first ruler of the United Principalities and of the national state of Romania. The coins are made of silver, have a face value of MDL 50 and a circulation of 250 units and 300 units, respectively.
The "Monasteries of Moldova" series is extended with a coin dedicated to 600 years since the founding of the Varzaresti Monastery, the oldest monastic complex in the area between the Dniester and the Prut, which represents an evidence of our nation’s faith. The piece is a continuation of the enhancement of the monuments of traditional architecture of this kind, has a face value of MDL 50 lei and is issued in a circulation of 350 units.
A silver coin, dedicated to the Paul Bran - economist, university professor, manager of higher education in the field, the first rector of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, supplements the series "Science and Innovation". The coin has a face value of MDL 50 and is minted in a circulation of 250 units.
At the same time, the series "Red Book of the Republic of Moldova" is supplemented with a silver coin, with a face value of MDL 50, on which is represented the old world swallowtail (Papilio machaon L.) - a species of butterfly protected by law. The coin has a circulation of 300 units.
The series of coins "Holidays, culture, traditions of Moldova" is completed with a silver coin with a face value of MDL 50 and a circulation of 400 units, dedicated to the traditional ornament, which is an important testimony of the spiritual life and secular traditions of the nation.
The silver coin dedicated to the Wines of Moldova will complete the series of coins "Others". The piece has a face value of MDL 50 and is minted in a circulation of 500 units.
The "Childhood fairy tales" series, which was launched last year, includes a new silvered tombac coin “The little purse with two coins” with a face value of MDL 20 and a circulation of 300 units.
The jubilee and commemorative coins, packed in transparent methacrylate capsules and presentation boxes, are accompanied by certificates of authenticity written in Romanian and English, signed by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.
The jubilee and commemorative coins issued by the National Bank are traded through the licensed banks of the Republic of Moldova.
