The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting today with the Head of the Netherlands Embassy Office in the Republic of Moldova, Floris van Eijk.
The officials discussed mainly the progress made in the financial and banking sector of the Republic of Moldova, maintaining its resilience to the challenges caused by the pandemic, as well as strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Netherlands in the financial and banking sector and its development prospects.
The NBM Governor reported on the resulting experience of the collaboration between the National Bank of Moldova and the authorities of the Netherlands in recent years on several segments related to banking activity. These include in particular banking supervision, corporate governance, compliance with prudential rules, risk management and other improvements that have strengthened the situation in the sector. Octavian Armașu also appreciated the opening of the Netherlands to provide advice and technical assistance in the field of central bank activity.
In his turn, the Head of the Netherlands Embassy Office in the Republic of Moldova, Floris van Eijk, stressed the need to continue the successful banking reform process in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the official expressed his country's commitment for a lasting and efficient mutual cooperation relationship. Floris van Eijk also referred to the importance of the central bank's independence for the realization of its reform agenda, as well as the EU's openness to support this agenda.
