National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) invites the general public to engage in the “Discover the Monuments on Moldovan Leu Banknotes” contest, which will start on 27 August 2023, in commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. The winners will be officially unveiled on the National Currency Day, on 29 November 2023, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the Moldovan Leu.
The primary objective of this competition is to foster a sense of civic pride regarding the Moldovan Leu and our nation’s rich historical heritage.
We encourage individuals of all ages and nationalities, to participate in this open contest, designed to highlight the historical landmarks of the Republic of Moldova featured on Moldovan Leu banknotes. Participants are required to submit to the NBM a minimum of eight photographs of banknotes currently in circulation. Each photograph should display a banknote set against the background of the corresponding depicted monument (please refer to the attached image as an example).
We kindly request that only original, unedited photographs be submitted. Images edited in programs with layers or masks will be disqualified.
Thirty winners will be selected through a random draw. This significant event will be hosted by the NBM to celebrate the 30th anniversary from the launch of the national currency, which will be broadcast live. The selected winners will be awarded with silver commemorative coins and mint sets.
All participants will receive certificates of participation issued by the National Bank.
