NBM and the Ministry of Finance organize a summit bringing together influential officials from the IMF and World Bank Constituencies

This week Chisinau becomes an international financial center. Around 100 representatives of central banks and finance ministries from the member countries of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) Constituency, led by Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will meet on 10 - 12 July 2024 in Chisinau.

Participants will discuss topics related to global economic developments, regional challenges, and key takeaways from the experiences and policies of the IMF and the World Bank.

The event will be attended by high-level officials from the two international organizations: Kenji Okamura, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF; Paul Hilbers, IMF Executive Director for Moldova; Eugene Rhuggenaath, WB Executive Director for Moldova; Antonella Bassani, Vice President for Europe and Central Asia of the World Bank Group; and other officials. Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean will also greet the attendees on 11 July 2024.

The event is organized by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) and the Ministry of Finance. "This meeting is an opportunity to discuss further structural reforms, foreign investment attraction, and ways to create a competitive and transparent business environment. We will also look at how we can maximize the benefits of international cooperation and how we can use the IMF's expertise to achieve our development goals," emphasized the Governor of the NBM, Anca Dragu.
