Guvernatoarea BNM, Anca Dragu, la evenimentul dedicat celor 30 de ani de activitate a Junior Achievement Moldova

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Anca Dragu, participated in the anniversary event “Ensuring the sustainability of communities through the development of social entrepreneurship”, organized by the non-profit organization Junior Achievement Moldova. The event marked three decades of the organization’s active contribution to economic and entrepreneurial education in the Republic of Moldova.

Over 350 participants, including senior officials from home and abroad, as well as representatives from public authorities, the educational, economic and civic sectors, discussed the transformative potential of social entrepreneurship and the critical role of financial education in strengthening sustainable communities.

In her speech at the opening of the event, the Governor of the NBM emphasized that an anniversary of such magnitude is also a moment of reflection and recognition of the added value that entrepreneurial education brings to society: "Economic and entrepreneurial education is a strategic investment in human capital. Economically well-prepared young people become not only better employees, but also value creators - those who will shape tomorrow's economy, create jobs and generate innovative ideas for the benefit of society as a whole."

Ms. Anca Dragu also reiterated the NBM’s firm commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at developing the financial literacy of citizens, regardless of age or social status: "We actively support any approach that brings economic knowledge closer to people: pupils, students or adults who wish to gain a better understanding of the financial world. Access to financial education is the key to a healthy economy and a more equitable society."

The meeting also presented international best practice examples in the field of social entrepreneurship, including experiences from Georgia and Ukraine, as well as the results of the regional project "Better Development through Social Entrepreneurship", implemented with the support of the European Union and JA Europe. The collaboration between the National Bank of Moldova and JA Moldova was formalized in 2024 through a partnership agreement in the field of financial education, which strengthens a long-standing cooperation that began many years ago.

Junior Achievement Moldova has been active since 1995 and is part of the global JA Worldwide network, the largest organisation dedicated to entrepreneurship education, operating in 127 countries. Its mission is to motivate and prepare the young generation to successfully integrate into the market economy.
