Institutional dialogue on monetary issuance and cultural heritage

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) continues to strengthen its cooperation with strategic partners in the field of monetary issuance. Today, a delegation from the NBM, led by Governor Anca Dragu, paid a working visit to the State Mint of Romania as part of a dialogue centred on expanding joint projects, exchanging experience, and capitalising on best practices.

The discussions focused in particular on current and future projects related to the issuance of commemorative coins, with an emphasis on optimising collaboration processes, increasing operational efficiency, and promoting the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova through commemorative and jubilee coins.

“The cooperation between the NBM and the State Mint is long-standing, with a tradition spanning over thirty years. This is reflected in the issuance of circulation and commemorative coins in support of important educational, cultural, and symbolic objectives,” stated the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

A recent example of this collaboration is the first-ever bringing to Chișinău of a historic coin minting press, provided for display by the State Mint of Romania. It was exhibited at the NBM museum as part of the international event “Global Money Week,” offering the public an opportunity to better understand the coin production process and its role in financial education and the promotion of national identity.
