NBM Governor Anca Dragu held a bilateral meeting with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Nicolae Ștefănuță

On the sidelines of the working visit to Brussels, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Ms. Anca Dragu, held talks with Mr. Nicolae Ștefănuță, Vice-President of the European Parliament and a supporter of the Republic of Moldova's European path.

The dialogue between the NBM Governor and Vice-President Nicolae Ștefănuță focused on strengthening support for the Republic of Moldova's integration into the European Union (EU). During the discussions, the active role of the NBM in this process was highlighted, with an emphasis on the successful connection of the Republic of Moldova to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) – an area with a community of over 500 million consumers.

"At the National Bank of Moldova, every decision is centred on people's lives and the needs of the real economy. We transform monetary policy into tangible benefits for citizens and businesses. Another example is the MIA instant payment system, created by the NBM, which provides citizens with access to fast and secure transfers in the national currency. Through operational integration into SEPA, effective next week, euro payments will be as fast, secure, and affordable as in the European Union. These achievements bring the EU closer to every family and every business in the Republic of Moldova," emphasised Ms. Anca Dragu.

The Governor of the NBM encouraged full support for Moldova on its path to European integration, highlighting that the reforms implemented by the central bank contribute directly to macroeconomic stability, the modernisation of the financial market, and the country's alignment with European standards. Citizens' confidence in the European path and the progress made by national institutions, including the National Bank of Moldova, strengthens the country's prospects of becoming an integral part of the European Union.
