The Statute of the National Payments Council was approved on September 16, 2013 at the establishment meeting of the National Payments Council.
Establishment meeting attendees included representatives from the Top management of the National Bank of Moldova, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, Main State Tax Inspectorate, E-Government Center, Moldovan Banks Association and licensed banks of the Republic of Moldova.
National Payments Council is designed as a professional forum for high level consultation between the various public and private institutions in order to facilitate the safe and stable functioning of the payment system of the Republic of Moldova that has the following objectives:
- to promote the cashless payments in the Republic of Moldova and to reduce the cash in circulation;
- to promote the operational efficiency, security and integrity of payment systems and services in the Republic of Moldova;
- to promote the compliance of payment systems and services with the market demand and the needs of users and their accessibility to the entire population of the Republic of Moldova;
- to promote the innovative nature of payments, cashless payment instruments safety and their accessibility for users.
With the objectives in focus the National Payments Council will encourage the competitiveness in the non-cash payments market, so that the economic agents and population will benefit from qualitative payment services at reasonable prices.
