The priorities for supervising the non-bank lending sector for 2026-2027 reflect the main directions of the National Bank of Moldova in terms of supervising the non-banking sector.

In accordance with the legal provisions, starting from July 1, 2023, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) supervises the activity of non-bank lending organizations, savings and loan associations, credit bureaus and professional participants in the insurance market.

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM), in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), recently organized an online workshop focused on the implementation of electronic customer identification (eKYC) in Moldova.

During these sessions, participants from non-bank lending organizations, savings and loan associations, as well as from the fields of insurance, reinsurance and insurance and/or reinsurance intermediaries received training on the requirements related to the prevention and combating of AML/CFT.

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, held a meeting with Sergiu Oprescu, President of the European Mortgage Federation, and Luca Bertalot, Secretary General of the European Covered Bond Council.

Individuals seeking to establish relationships with licensed banks, non-bank lending organizations, savings and loan associations, and life insurance providers, are no longer required to visit the institutions in person.

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) held two working meetings chaired by the Governor Anca Dragu on 23-24 April 2024 with representatives of savings and loan associations holding category B license and, the Central National Association of Savings and Credit Associations.

In order to ensure the stability of the sector and to prevent the related risks, the National Bank of Moldova continues to strengthen its supervisory capacities, aiming to comply with the requirements of the regulatory framework.
