During 10-12 July 2024, the Republic of Moldova will host the Constituency Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, led by Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, held in Chisinau on a rotating basis.
The event, organized by the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance, will bring together senior representatives of central banks and finance ministries from the member countries of the Constituency, as well as senior representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The meeting will focus on “Ensuring Robust Growth in a Volatile and Uncertain Environment.” Discussions will cover “Mobilizing Private Capital” and “Artificial Intelligence-Driven Opportunities for Innovation and Growth.”
The meeting aims to bring forth global economic developments, regional challenges, and key takeaways from IMF and World Bank experiences and policies.
This event is of major importance for the Republic of Moldova, providing an opportunity to showcase the country’s economic developments and opportunities, as well as its tourism potential. The forum also exemplifies international cooperation contributing to the stability and progress of the financial system.
The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Constituency led by Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands since 12 August 2012, alongside Andorra, Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Israel, Luxembourg, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Romania, and Ukraine. This group of countries is represented in the decision-making bodies of the IMF and the World Bank (the Boards of Executive Directors of the IMF and the World Bank) by an Executive Director, elected for a four-year term.
