NBM issued into circulation eight new commemorative coins

As from 2 November 2015, the National Bank of Moldova issued into circulation eight commemorative coins as legal tender and for numismatic purposes.

The commemorative coin dedicated to Constantin Stere, a national writer  of XIX-XX centuries, was minted in gold and silver and complements the series "Alley of classics from Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfînt Public Garden in Chişinău". The gold coin has a face value of MDL 100 and an issuing volume of 300 coins.  The silver coin has a face value of MDL 50 and an issuing volume of 500 coins.

Other two silver coins that complement the series "Personalities" are dedicated to two major figures of Basarabian literature and art - Grigore Vieru and Constantin Constantinov.  The coin dedicated to Grigore Vieru has a face value of MDL 100 and an issuing volume of 1000 coins, while the coin dedicated to Constantin Constantinov has a face value of MDL 50 and an issuing volume of 500 coins.

The silver coins  "Maria Bieşu - 80 years since birth" and "Pommer Manor in the village of Ţaul, Donduşeni" have launched two new series - "Famous women" and "Lordly houses". Thus, the commemoration of the prima donna of the National Opera opened a new page in honouring the women of the Republic of Moldova. The other coin resets the historical accents on the architectural value of the houses in our villages. Both coins have a face value of MDL 50 and an issuing volume of 500 coins.

Series "Sanctuaries" is complemented with a new commemorative coin - "The Wooden Church of the "Assumption of the Mother of God", Village Museum, Chişinău." With a face value of MDL 50 and an issuing volume of 500 coins, this commemorative coin is a continuation of the valorization of the old local architectural monuments of its kind.  The commemorative coin "European pond turtle" of the series "Red book of the Republic of Moldova" has a face value of MDL 50 and an issuing volume of 500 coins.

Commemorative and jubilee coins are sold through licensed banks at a price of up to three percent above that of the National Bank.
