Moldova in SEPA: videos on the benefits of integration into the European financial area

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM), with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, is launching three informative videos detailing the advantages of the country's accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) – the infrastructure that brings together 41 European countries and offers citizens and businesses the possibility to make cross-border payments quickly and efficiently, eliminating administrative barriers and reducing transfer costs.

The videos present everyday situations that explain in accessible language how the experience of transfers has changed for Moldovan citizens, the diaspora, and entrepreneurs with the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European financial system, the country becoming an operational part of the Single Euro Payments Area on 6 October 2025.

“Integration into SEPA represents a fundamental transformation of the way Moldova interacts with the European economy. Transfers are becoming faster, safer, and much more accessible, while families receiving money from the diaspora will pay significantly lower fees. For the business environment, SEPA provides access to European payment standards: Moldovan companies trade on the same terms as EU companies, reduced costs increase competitiveness, and savings remain in the country for investment and development. Moldova is now at the same financial distance as any country in the European Union,” emphasizes Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

The videos also highlight the fact that Moldova's accession to SEPA brings immediate and tangible benefits in full transparency: every transaction in euros is made without hidden fees, in accordance with European standards. Wherever you are in Europe, you can send money to Moldova just as you would make a domestic payment within the European Union.
