National Bank of Moldova attends G20 Summit for the first time, represented by Governor Anca Dragu

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) participates for the first time in the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) Global Meeting organized in the context of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), an event of global importance, which takes place from 11-12 September in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Governor Anca Dragu will represent the National Bank of Moldova at the event, marking a historic first for participation in this high-level international forum.

The event brings together over 40 leaders in sustainable finance, central bank governors, including high-level representatives from the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), SBFN members, World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) experts.

As a representative of an emerging country, the NBM Governor will participate in the SBFN Members' Highlights panel discussion, where she will discuss sustainable finance from the perspective of the National Bank of Moldova's commitment to the development and implementation of a national sustainable finance framework aligned with international and EU best practices and share the NBM's experience in the design and development of the Sustainable Finance Roadmap in cooperation with the IFC.

As of 8 November 2023, the National Bank of Moldova has joined the international Sustainable Finance Network (SBFN) - a voluntary community of financial sector regulators, central banks, finance ministries, environment ministries and emerging market industry associations committed to promoting sustainable finance. The accession of the NBM to the SBFN will align the financial system of the Republic of Moldova with national and global priorities in this area..
