NBM Governor discussed with AmCham representatives the development of the business environment

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, discussed today with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in the Republic of Moldova about the central bank's collaboration with the non-governmental organization, the support for financial intermediation, and the strengthening of the dialogue between the NBM and the business environment. Governor Anca Dragu emphasized that the alignment of the national financial system with European standards offers investors the possibility to develop business in Moldova based on rules similar to those in the EU.

"This harmonization with EU legislation will accelerate in the coming period, as the Republic of Moldova, a candidate country for EU membership, began accession negotiations in June 2024 and is currently engaged in an extensive dialogue with the European Commission (screening) regarding the level of preparedness for EU accession," the Governor said.

Another aspect highlighted by Governor Anca Dragu refers to financial intermediation: "It is a central element for increasing access to financing for both companies and for individuals. The NBM is focusing its efforts on strengthening the banking system and diversifying funding sources through policies and regulations that support the competitiveness of the financial market. Through more efficient financial intermediation, entrepreneurs and consumers can access the resources necessary for development, in conditions of transparency and stability".

The American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that comprises 125 members from a wide range of businesses, from large foreign investors to small enterprises operating domestically and internationally.
