The NBM launches a series of explanatory videos about its role in the Republic of Moldova's European integration process

Today, on the occasion of Europe Day, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) is launching a series of video materials aimed at explaining, in a clear and accessible way, the institution's contribution to the Republic of Moldova’s European integration process.

The initiative is part of the NBM's approach to support the country's European path by strengthening financial stability, modernizing the banking sector and aligning national legislation with EU standards. The National Bank coordinates the working groups for three negotiating chapters: Free Movement of Capital, Financial Services and Economic and Monetary Policy.

Through this video series, the public will gain a better understanding of what the free movement of capital means for citizens and businesses, the advantages of joining European financial services and how monetary policy contributes to the country's financial stability. The NBM will also explain how digital transformation is improving banking services and how integration into the European financial system, such as SEPA, brings direct benefits to every Moldovan citizen, including those in the diaspora.

"The National Bank is close to the people, explaining clearly and openly what European integration means and how it is reflected in everyday life. We want every citizen to understand, trust and feel part of this process. Easy access to information is a form of respect and a determined step towards a European future where no one is left behind. This is how we build, together, a path of stability, transparency and real opportunities. Today, on Europe Day, we celebrate this common future and the values that unite us", states Anca Dragu, Governor of the NBM.

The Republic of Moldova became a candidate country for accession to the European Union on 23 June 2022, following a decision by the European Council, in recognition of the progress made in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing key reforms. On 14 December 2023, the European Council decided to open accession negotiations, marking a major milestone in the country's European integration process.
