NBM takes over the chairmanship of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe

Starting on 16 December 2025, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will take over the chairmanship of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe (BSCEE), one of the most important platforms for cooperation between banking supervisory authorities in the region.

The mandate will be exercised by the Deputy Governor of the NBM, Mr. Constantin Șchendra, for the period 16 December 2025 – 15 December 2026, following the decision adopted at the 37th Annual Conference of the Group, held in June in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

"I am taking on the presidency of the Central and South-Eastern European Banking Supervisors Group with a great sense of responsibility. This community brings together 24 supervisory authorities and, over time, has become a real forum for dialogue and mutual learning. In this period marked by rapid technological transformations, growing cyber risks, and constant changes in financial markets, cooperation between supervisors is crucial. I hope that, during this mandate, we will strengthen this cooperation and carry forward joint projects that can enhance the resilience of the banking sector across the entire region," emphasised Mr. Constantin Șchendra.

The NBM Deputy Governor highlights that Moldova's participation in the BSCEE reflects the country's determination to strengthen banking supervision and progress towards integration into European practices.

Furthermore, the National Bank of Moldova expresses its willingness to host the next BSCEE Annual Conference in 2026, reaffirming its active role in promoting regional dialogue and cooperation.â

The Banking Supervisors Group from Central and South-Eastern Europe (BSCEE) is a network founded in 1991, bringing together banking supervisory authorities from 24 countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The purpose of this high-level forum is to cooperate and exchange experience in the field of banking supervision, contributing to the strengthening of financial systems in the region.
