Octavian Armașu participated in the Central Banks Governors' Club of the Central Asia, Black Sea Region and Balkan Countries


The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, participated today in the 44th meeting of Central Banks Governors' Club of the Central Asia, Black Sea region and Balkan countries, this time in online format, taking into account the global pandemic crisis.

The existing health situation has accentuated the need to address the issue of economic and financial development in the region, but also in the world as a major challenge that requires the confluence of the efforts of the monetary authorities to deal with the crisis.

Officials exchanged ideas, based on local expertise, discussing topics of common interest such as: financial stability and macroprudential oversight in emerging market countries, financing issues, promotion of monetary policy and decision-making in this regard, measures taken by central banks and identifying the optimal solutions in carrying out the tasks during the pandemic and the respective impact, etc.

"It is essential to valorize this platform for discussions and regional collaboration opportunities in the financial and banking field in order to maintain a professional and safe orientation based on best practices that will give us an optimal vision of financial phenomena in the current crisis," said the governor of the National Bank, Octavian Armașu.

The Central Banks Governors' Club of the Central Asia, Black Sea region and Balkan countries was established on 1 May 1998, when the National Bank of Moldova became a founding member, along with other central banks. The activity of this international forum aims at streamlining the mutual cooperation in the financial and banking field of the countries in the respective space. In 2014, the Republic of Moldova hosted the 32nd meeting of the club.
