Petru Rotaru, First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova

 


Petru Rotaru was appointed First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova, and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of the National Bank of Moldova by the Decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova no. 7 of 6 February 2025.

Petru Rotaru was born in 1984, in the village of Țipala, Ialoveni district, Republic of Moldova. He graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2007, specializing in Finance and Accounting, and a master’s degree in law in 2012, specializing in Financial and Tax Law.

At the time of his appointment, Petru Rotaru has over 19 years of experience in the economic sector, having also worked in several state institutions and in the government.

From 2006 to 2016, he worked in the accounting and administrative fields, holding various positions, including managerial roles in both private and public sector entities.

From 2016 to 2023, he was member of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova.

In 2023, he served as Director of the State Tax Service.

From 2023 to 2024, he was appointed as Minister of Finance.

From July 2024 until his appointment as First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, he was Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova and a member of its Executive Board.
