The National Bank of Moldova issued new three commemorative coins on 21 July 2014, minted in silver, as legal tender and for numismatic purpose.
One of the coins is dedicated to 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the fundamental law that determines us as citizens of a sovereign and independent State. The coin has the face value of 100 lei, weights 13 grams, with a diameter of 28 millimeters, title of 999/1000, round shaped and with a circulation of 1000 copies.
The coin completes the series of coins “Historical Events”, along with the coin „125th anniversary of the founding of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History”. The latter one highlights the importance of the oldest museum of the Republic of Moldova, which holds over 150000 objects from collections of geology, paleontology, zoology, botany, archeology, numismatics, ethnography, old books, folk art etc. The coin has the following characteristics: face value of 50 lei, weight of 16.5 grams, diameter of 30 millimeters, title of 999/1000, round shaped and with a circulation of 500 copies.
The third issued coin „Candle of Gratitude” reflects one of the significant constructions in the modern history of the Republic of Moldova – tribute to all anonymous heroes of the national culture. The coin was minted to complete the series of coins „Monuments of the Republic of Moldova”, with a circulation of 1000 copies and the face value of 50 lei, weighting 13 grams, with a diameter of 28 millimeters, title of 999/1000 and round shaped.
The commemorative coins, packed in transparent methacrylate capsules and presentation boxes, are accompanied by certificates of authenticity, written in Romanian and English and signed by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.
The commemorative coins are available for sale through licensed banks at a price of up to 3 percent above that set by the National Bank of Moldova.
